  • JUNE 2006: The entrance to a women seminary at Hozeh Elmiyeh in Qom. There are separate entrances for men and women and STOP sign for men in front of women entrance.. Qom is the spiritual and religious capital of Iran and is of particular significance to the Shiites. Iranian clergy (mullahs) and law makers come from Qom. It's the place where Islamic scholars and students from all over the world come to study Islam and it's laws. Among other famous students, the late Imam Khomeini studied and lived in Qom for a good proportion of his life.

Kish is situated accross Dubai and it's built as tourist and business heaven. Although still part of Islamic Republic of Iran the laws are more liberally applied and foreigners donot need entry visa, including US citizens. It is place where Western money and businessmen can easily meet their Iranian counterparts. With its beautiful pristine beaches, massive modern shopping malls and luxury hotels it draws a lot of Iranian tourists but also working class and migrant workers from other Gulf countries.
